B.A.R.B.'S Place

B.A.R.B.'S Place (Babies, Adults, Recovery Based Services) specializes in helping women with addiction and behavior problems. Ladies of Sacred Heart presented Ms. Barajas with a check for $500, which will be used to install a commercial-sized hot water heater for the residential center.

JoAnn Carter, Executive Director, explains the parenting classes to Sheila Harrison, President of Ladies of Sacred Heart. Parenting and anger management classes are only part of the services offered by Change Point to families, many of whom are referred by family court. $500 donated by Ladies of Sacred Heart will be go toward refurbishing a donated ambulanace as a mobile medical unit. The unit will provide pregnancy testing,  and ultrasounds to women unable to travel the distance to Hot Springs.

Ladies of Sacred Heart donated $1,000 to the Club to help pay for the increased staff through the summer. Now that school is out, 50 to 75 children participate in the program each day.

Ms. Smith is the executive director of this community crisis intervention service. As the recession continues, more and more working families are seeking assistance in providing the bare necessities of life such as food, clothing and shelter. The $700 donated by Ladies of Sacred Heart will go toward refurbishing and stocking the food pantry at Jackson House. Mrs. Harrison served as president and Millie Connelly served on the ways & means committee of Ladies of Sacred Heart this past year. This year, the organization has donated over $8,000 to charitable causes in Garland and Saline Counties.
